Passports and visas:Citizens of the United States are required to have a passport in order to
enter the country. British subjects from the United Kingdom and it's colonies and
Canadian citizens may enter the country without a passport if they are
staying less than three weeks. For longer stays, passports are required. Citizens of most
European and Central and South American countries must have passports.
Departure tax: Each adult leaving The Bahamas must pay $15 departure tax.
Children under the age of 6 years are exempt.
Currency: Bahamian and US currency are equal and may be used interchangeably
in The Bahamas.
Customs: Baggage declaration by temporary visitors is
oral, but the baggage is
subject to customs inspections. In case there are dutiable articles, the visitor will
be required to complete a Baggage Declaration form.
